The newspaper bag activity gave us a wonderful opportunity to join hands with nature and demonstrate the importance of using eco friendly bags. The three of us put our heads and hands together as we learnt to make the bag ourselves and then taught the entire class.

It was an interesting exercise where we used newspapers, tags and other materials easily available in every household to make a bag that is useful to carry things, without causing harm to nature. We then prepared a presentation and a video to explain the simple steps of preparing a newspaper bag.

Although the bag that we demonstrated was made out of newspapers, one can prepare customized themed bags for return gifts at parties by using printed papers which are easily available in the market at economical rates. There are a wide range of papers available, many of which are made from recycled material and hence eco-friendly.

The idea of making paper bags also opens up small home based business opportunities for those who wish to be entrepreneurs. Thus through this Ventel activity we could inspire the whole class to go Eco-Friendly. As it is rightly said, “Reuse, Reduce, Recycle”!
