Teacher’s Day was celebrated on 4 th September 2021 at 9.50 am for the academic year 2020-2021 and was organized at St. Teresa’s Institute of Education for the teaching and non-teaching staff. This was the first event which was organized entirely by the Student Council, headed by the General Secretary Upassana Sanghvi and was held online. Many students came forward to participate in the celebration through various events planned. A total of 30 students participated in making this occasion an overwhelming success and the dress code for the event was Bling and Sparkle.
Prior the event, handmade cards and Bookmarks were personally made by the students and handed over to the staff members of the college.
The program began with a short introduction to the significance of teacher’s day by Upassana Sanghvi and was followed by a beautiful prayer service by Sr. Cinthiya Bavighar, Sr. Sujata Thopelya, Sr. Elvina Misquita and Romany D’Mello and concluded with a prayer song by Rohini Save. The program then began with the Anchors Bruchelle Pereira and Dhruti Sharma introducing themselves as two teachers indirectly presenting the events of the program.
The girls showcased their talents through Poems in English and Urdu, Singing, Dancing, Acting, Script- writing and a tribute to the teachers through Art through recording their performances earlier which was expertly compiled by the editing team while the games were hosted live. Two games were played where the first game ‘Paichan kon?’ were played only by the students while the second game ‘If you know,you know (Riddles)’ was only for teachers. The winners of the second game which were Dr. Sheela Philip and Dr. Giselle D’Souza each received gifts which were already delivered to college.
Towards the end of the program, a video montage where ex-students and students from the current batch paid tribute to the teachers. The Student Council along with few students then explained the meaning of the word ‘TEACHER’ by holding placards with each letter of the word which was followed by the Vote of Thanks by Council members Srishti Nangalia and Kanishka D’souza. The event then concluded with the credits roll to the participants who contributed to making this event a success and the college anthem. After this, each and every teacher starting from the Principal of St. Teresa, Dr. Sr. Tanuja Waghmare thanked all the students and for making this teacher’s day a memorable one for them.
