MOOC Session

St. Teresa's Institute of Education organized an important and very informative session on MOOC which is Massive Open Online Course on 14th January 2021. The program was held on Google Meet at 9.15 am.

This session was conducted and presented by Sir Mandar Bhanushe. Sir Mandar Bhanushe oriented the session with a lots of information explaining about what is MOOC and how doing different online course can help us improve knowledge.

He began with explaining about MOOC saying that Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are free online courses available for anyone to enroll. MOOCs provide an affordable and flexible way to learn new skills, advance your career and deliver quality educational experiences at scale. Millions of people around the world use MOOCs to learn for a variety of reasons, including: career development, changing careers, college preparations, supplemental learning, lifelong learning, corporate eLearning & training, and more.

He also spoke about Online course’s apps like Udemy etc which provides different online courses and a Certificate on its completion.

This information were very useful as it gave us insights about the contents and models. He then spoke about SWAYAM ( Study Webs of Active- learning for Young Aspiring Minds ) . Its an indigenous platform of the MHRD and Government of India, providing an integrated portal and platform for hosting MOOCs developed under the aegis of NME- ICT.

Sir not only cleared all our doubts about the way of teaching in an online course and the timings for those course and how one can enroll in those courses. He also gave options about different online courses platforms.

This session was must as it not only cleared our doubts regarding the Online courses but also helped us understand many more factors related to MOOC. Sir Joshi definitely did justice to the session by discussing each aspect of the MOOC with so much of ease yet covering all the things related to the it. The program got over at 10.30 am . It was indeed an informative and a much needed session. This session was a great success !
