30th October, 2021
The day began with an enlightening assembly. Prayers and hymns were recited. The programme was initiated by an informational video about the Diwali celebration, which was produced by the National Geographic Channel. The video was informative and interesting, which focused on the meaning and importance of the celebration. Then the main event started with an introduction by Anjali and Upassana. They summarised the tradition and practice, and how today, Diwali is celebrated globally. The event had an environmentally friendly reminder for all. They highlighted the importance and ways of celebrating an eco-friendly Diwali.
They aimed to create awareness about sustainability. A prayer song by Rohini in praise of Lord Ganesha was played later in the event. Dhruti set the tone by reciting sholkas. Bruchelle added to the theme of eco-friendly by drawing our attention to the practical ways like traditional lighting, organic colours, and gifting organic items. A video on self-made crackers was also shown. Our artistic classmate Srishti created a craft video giving us exciting ways to decorate our houses.
Furthermore, Anam added a personal touch by sharing an anecdote with the audience. The storytelling was continued by Dhruti and Anam, in a theatrical role play from the Ramayana. Adding to the celebration, games were organised by Romany and Ramona, which kept the event interactive and fun. Srishti and Riya presented a quiz on Diwali which tested our general knowledge of Diwali.
Then the event was made intriguing by showing the audience recipes for their favourite Diwali sweet, Besan ka ladoo, which was presented by Rohini. This was followed by an electrifying dance performance by Ruth. The final stage of the programme was Diya lightning by students and professors, followed by the announcement of winners from the Diya Decoration competition.
The concluding prayer was read by Dhruti, which was followed by a gratitude-filled vote of thanks by Felicita and the closing words were spoken by our principal.
